Black Soldier Fly Larvae
Chubby Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae are comparable to dried mealworms but have a much higher calcium value.
Research has shown that natural feed with balanced Ca:P ratios (a perfect treat for hedgehogs) increases animal health and contributes to stronger bones and shiny feathers.
Feeding BSF Larvae as a treat is an excellent way to increase these vital nutrients and we can assure you, they will soon become a favourite!
Black Soldier Fly Larvae have many branded names such as: Calci Worms, Phoenix Worms®, Soldier Grubs®, Flygrubs®, Grubblies®, Nutriworms®, Tasty Grubs® but are all are the larvae of the black soldier fly®(Hermetia illucens), we'll just keep things simple and call them what they are :)
Mealworms
Our Dried Mealworms are a natural treat, packed full of protein, vitamins and essential fats that birds need.
Mealworms can and will be enjoyed all year round however, winter is the hardest time of year for our wildlife. Each of our mealworms contain just over 50% Protein!
Although you can buy live mealworms, dried mealworms are just as good with the added benefit of easy and long-lasting storage.
Any insectivorous (soft billed) bird will love mealworms. The majority of passerines (perching birds) will enjoy them too, especially when they are feeding their young and the protein is essential for their growth.
